Mauritius: A Turkey breeding project launched on the side of Albion




The Ministry of agro-industry of Mauritius should implement in the near future a project about breeding of turkeys on the side of Albion, in a production experimental production of Belle-Vue, in the West of the island, and this, to meet the demand of the local market.
 
The project of this breeding of turkeys on the island was enacted by the Council of Ministers on March 7.
 
500 Orlopp Bronze poults race from France have already arrived in the production unit of Belle-Vue in October 2013, as indicated by the newspaper L'Express of Mauritius.
 
The reproductive phase in larger scale, with 150 turkeys initially, should be launched in the coming weeks.
 
 Eventually the Ministry of agro-industry of Mauritius wishes to expand production and push local farmers to engage in this new industry.
