Mauritius: A Rasta man, wearing dreadlocks covered by a cap, prohibited from courtroom at the tribunal of Port-Louis
A Rasta man of 38 years, living at Karo Kalyptis, in the North of Mauritius, who was to appear before the court in Port-Louis for an offence under the Highway Code, was prohibited yesterday Thursday, from the courtroom by a police officer because of his dreadlocks covered by a cap.

The thirty years old man denounces that his rights have been violated. The decision of expulsion from the courtroom is contrary to the Declaration of human rights and the Constitution of Mauritius.

The man has deep regret living in a democratic country where he cannot "practice Rasta culture".

"This is the first time that I have problems with the police because of my braids", said the man who intends to go to court to avenge the insult suffered, as shown in the newspaper Le Matinal.
