Mauritius: 38.457 fines related to speeding between January and June 2014 on the island

The number of police deployed on the roads of Mauritius have issued 38.457 fines between January and June 2014 for excessive speed against 13.071 fines recorded on the same calendar period of reference in 2013, an increase of 194%.
As a reminder excessive speed thus reported since the beginning of the year 2014 approximately 77 million rupees * in a State with 36 radar scattered the Mauritian territory, as reported by the Le Matinal newspaper.
As a reminder, the Mauritian authorities have especially bet on the introduction of the licence penalty point on May 10, 2013 and the proliferation of speed cameras on the island, to curb the road carnage in recent years as well as the obligation from 2014 for motorcyclists to wear a reflective vest at night.
