Mauritius: 20,000 unemployed youth on the island, including 5,000 graduates

Some 20,000 young people between 16 to 24 years, nearly 5,000 graduates do not have jobs in Mauritius, as the latest report of the National Economic and Social Council (NESC) published last Thursday, November 21 2013.

The report stresses that these young unemployed have not the necessary skills in communication and have deemed too "academic" knowledge for a job, as the newspaper L'Express of Mauritius relates.
Many of them accept even lower than their qualifying positions.
The NESC report also highlights 10,000 young people have left school system earlier and thus do not have a diploma on the work market in Mauritius, not having the qualifications required to apply for numerous offers.
