Mauritius: 2.209 tons of fruit exported in 2013

While six years ago the Mauritian fruits were struggling to supply the European market with only 600 tons, the professionals of the sector exported by 2013 some 2.209 tons of fruit against 2.185 tons in 2012, according to the Mauritius Business magazine.
Pineapple, lychees, mangoes, passion fruit, fruit bread thus drained in their wake more than 400 million rupees * of recipes.
As a reminder, the Mauritian Government has also recently helped the sector by awarding a grant of 3.50 rupees per kilogram of exported fruit.
Thus, the bar symbolic for the export of 2,500 tons could be exceeded in the year 2014 and professionals in the sector are now considering fruit for export shipments to Asia and the Middle East.
* One euro roughly equivalent to 41 rupees
