Madagascar will delay the eviction of undocumented Comorian students

On the sidelines the Council of Ministers of members of the Indian Ocean Commission states (IOC) which was held in the Malagasy capital on 20 May, the Comorian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohamed Abdulkarim, negotiated with his counterpart from the Island, Beatrice Atallah.
The Comoros side wished that Madagascar suspend the expulsions of undocumented Comorian students on the Malagasy soil.
The two ministers have given their approval for the holding of a meeting between the two countries in order to find a sustainable solution to the problems with visas between the Comoros and Madagascar, as reported by La Lettre de l'Océan Indien.
In early May, the number of Comorian students were turned back from the Island. Moroni considered these expulsions to be a reprisal in response to the evictions of Malagasy citizens who were subject to of drug trafficking charges at the heart of the Comoros archipelago.
