Madagascar sugar campaign: 100,000 tons of sugar for the year 2014 in the island

While the sugar campaign and cutting of canes began several weeks ago, farmers have already harvested about 230,000 tons of cane, which are sent to different factories in the country.
According to the current tonnage and richness in the 2014 cane sugar, the production of local Malagasy sugar should revolve around 100,000 tons of sugar for the year 2014, whose part is intended for export.
As a reminder, Madagascar consumes some 160,000 tons of sugar each year.
Thus, the island must import sugar to meet the demand of its population.
