Madagascar host country of the 16th summit of the OIF in 2016

The 16th Francophonie Summit will be held in Madagascar in 2016.
The heads of state gathered at the 15th Francophonie Summit in Dakar in Senegal, took place this Sunday, 30 November.
The Canadian of Haitian origin of 57 years, Michaëlle Jean, was also appointed yesterday in Dakar as Secretary General of the International Organisation of the Francophonie (OIF) for a period of four years, succeeding the former Senegalese President Abdou Diouf, head of the OIF * since 2003.
Madagascar was reinstated to the Permanent Council of the institution at the end of March 2014 in the wake of the return to constitutional order in the Island after five years of the transition regime.
As a reminder, Madagascar was suspended of the OIF in April 2009, following the accession to power of Andry Rajoelina and exile of the former President Marc Ravalomanana ousted in March 2009.
