Madagascar: Vast national campaign against poliomyelitis in the Island

A vast vaccination campaign against poliomyelitis has been launched since the beginning of the week. Some 4.3 million children aged between less than five years will be vaccinated in the Island.
As a reminder, approximately 25% of children are not immunized in the country according to the latest estimates. The World Health Organization (WHO) has set itself the goal of eradicating the virus, through the deployment of large scale vaccination campaigns on the Malagasy territory.
Over 25 years, the number of polio cases has fallen sharply by almost 99%.
