Madagascar: Thieves of zebus slaughtered during an operation of the gendarmerie

Three thieves of zebus (dahalo) were shot at Andranomangatsiaka in the southwest of Madagascar in late last week.

Thus, the gendarmes of the brigades Bezaha and Tongobory on the basis of precise information conducted a punch operation to arrest the dahalo directly in the heart of the village of Andranomangatsiaka.

But a violent snap erupted between the military and thieves of zebus who refused to engage in the security forces, leaving three dead among the dahalo.

Many injured have nevertheless managed to flee into the surrounding forest.

Thirty of zebus could also be recovered in this blitz led by constables who have suffered no loss in their ranks, as indicated by the newspaper Les Nouvelles of Madagascar.

As a reminder, the zebu theft comes from old Malagasy traditions still strongly rooted in the hinterland.
Symbolically representing manhood before marriage, mafia gangs have thus diverted from its original meaning, and replace it with a very lucrative criminal trade.
