Madagascar: The price of basic commodities rises steeply in the wake of bad weather

While the price of fuel has decreased at the pump, the price of basic commodities in Madagascar for its part has sharply increased in the aftermath of the recent bad weather that has hit the Island.
Rice, charcoal, vegetables, bread have increased sharply. The makalioka rice is thus sold at 1,600 ariarys per kilo against 1,400 * ariarys a few days ago. The price of a kilo of carrots has also jumped to 2,000 ariarys, twice of the price before. Potatoes also follow the same trend, with a kilo which today is 1,000 ariary against 600 ariary earlier.
