Madagascar: The industry of green gold this year will export 2,000 tons of vanilla

The sector of green gold in Madagascar welcomes the results of the last campaign after a halftone year 2013. Vanilla production in 2014 reached 2,000 tons for export this year with a sales price per kilo estimated between 50 and 60 dollars in export.
As a reminder, Madagascar produces over 60% of vanilla exported to all parts of the world.
80,000 farmers in Madagascar live in the intensive cultivation of this orchid pollinated by hand. A cottage industry which employs in the vast plantations North of the Island in the heart of humid tropical regions, a cheap workforce.
