Madagascar: The construction of highways not on the priority agenda of the authorities

The construction of motorways in the Island is not in the order of the priority agenda of the Malagasy authorities.
Rafaralahy Rakotoarisoa, head of presidential projects with the Head of State has recently discussed this reality fact. "The construction of such infrastructure requires colossal resources that the state cannot afford yet," he emphasized.
As a reminder, in April 2014, the Minister of Public Works, Roland Ratsiraka, met the Chinese ambassador in the Island. The two men had talked about the feasibility studies on the establishment of a motorway (2x2 lanes) that would link the north of Antananarivo to Ivato international airport.
