Madagascar: Rajoelina called an emergency meeting as a result of hitches in the distribution of electoral cards

The President of Transition Andry Rajoelina, put forward during the Council of Ministers of yesterday's blockages on the distribution of electoral cards, and this, on the eve of the first round of the presidential elections of October 25.

In a statement released just after the Council of Ministers, the President of the Transition, Andry Rajoelina, evokes its concern on "a flagrant delay with respect to the distribution by the CENIT (Editor's Note: independent National Electoral Commission for the Transition) of these documents from their owners".

Andry Rajoelina thus proposes an emergency meeting on Friday, October 18, at Mahazoarivo between the Government Palace with its head Prime Minister Omer Beriziky, the CENIT and the various partners of the international community (United Nations and European Union) who are collaborating on the ongoing electoral process in Madagascar.

Beatrice Atallah, President of the CENIT has already officially recorded her presence at this meeting of last minute.
"We are already working on its preparation. Partners have also announced that they will participate, but I cannot confirm on their behalf," said Beatrice Atallah, president of the Independent National Electoral Commission for the Transition.

In addition, the Council of Ministers also noted another major problem around the ballot with "awareness on the use of a single ballot" which took a significant delay on the original timetable and "who began only last week" among the electorate.

To recap, the first round of the presidential election will be held on 25 October 2013 and the second round of voting is set to 20 December 2013, also the holding on the same day the Malagasy elections, where nearly 7.8 million voters Malagasy fulfill their civic duty by going to the polls in the island.
