Madagascar: Over 81,000 hectares treated against the invasion of locusts on the Island

While the second phase of the locust campaign was launched on 9 October in Madagascar, the aerial spraying operations of large-scale pesticide, and this, to eradicate locusts as well as the deployment of significant resources on the field, has helped to treat about 81,691 acres on the Island till 30 November 2014.
As a reminder, the locust swarms since April 2012 have particularly ravaged corn plantations, rice fields and other crops, and several regions of Madagascar has been destroyed to almost about 70%.
