Madagascar: Over 360,000 zebu consumed annually in the Island

Malagasy people consume approximately 366,000 zebu annually.
Zebu meat is consumed in small quantity in the Island at most meals and can also be used in ritual ceremonies as the union between spouses, offering for the more affluent families.
Zebu meat also enters into the composition of the Malagasy national dish Romazava, where it is associated with leafy vegetables and rice.
