Madagascar: Next Nomination of a Malagasy cardinal by Pope François?

While the Malagasy president, Hery Rajaonarimampianina, met in private audience the Pope François at the Vatican last Saturday, the Pontiff should appoint a native cardinal of the island very soon after the death at the beginning of 2010 by Cardinal Armand Razafindratandra Gaëtan.

Four contenders are most often cited in the scenes of the Holy See to become the fourth cardinal of Madagascar namely Bishop Odon Arsène Razanakolona (Archbishop of Tananarive), Bishop Benjamin Marc Ramaroson (Bishop of Diego Suarez), Archbishop Fulgence Rabemahafaly (Bishop of Fianarantsoa) and Mgr Fulgence Rabeony (Bishop of Tuléar), as reported by the Midi Madagasikara newspaper.
