Madagascar: New Government supports the initiatives of the National Agency of tourism

In the wake of the election of the new President, Hery Rajaonarimampianina, the National Agency of tourism of Madagascar (ONTM) said in a statement that the head of State upon his accession to power "has shown willingness to engage in the tourism sector" and to especially make Nosy Be "a flagship destination and reference", with the objective of reaching 400,000 arrivals tourism within 18 months in the island. "The President of the Republic of Madagascar is committed to tourism", according to the National Office of tourism of Madagascar. Here's the full release:

"As soon as his decision-making mandate, the new President of the Republic of Madagascar, Hery Rajaonarimampianina, has shown its willingness to get involved in the tourism sector. The President visited on the island of Nosy Be on 11 February last to confirm its development for the tourism industry projects in Madagascar.

He is committed to ensure the revival of economic activities, the strengthening of airport infrastructures and the security on the island of perfumes.
In this sense, a new district leader and officials of the tribunal as well as the police have been appointed. In matters of security, equipment for the forces of local agenda and Nosy Be decentralised communities were awarded (including 4 motorbikes, 40 portable posts and a 4 x 4 vehicle) during this official visit to strengthen the existing hardware

"Nosy Be, a leading destination and reference" for the President

On the 255 942 foreign tourists welcomed in Madagascar in 2012, nearly 29% went to Nosy Be.

Figures that put the region at the heart of the priorities of the Government, which aims to reach 400,000 tourist arrivals within 18 months. Following his meeting with tour operators of Nosy Be, officials of the National Office of tourism of Madagascar (ONTM) and the Regional Tourism of Nosy Be (ORTNB) Office, the President has confirmed its willingness to island perfumes at the center of a pilot project in terms of tourism and job creation.
A plan including through the revival of tourism training center in order to professionalise the youth nosy-béenne.

Renewal of the management team of the National Agency of tourism of Madagascar

Eric Koller was re-elected President of Council of Administration (PCA) of the ONTM after a first term of 2 years, as well as Jocelyn Ramanambohitra, who was re-elected Vice-president of the ONTM. For this new year, Eric Koller said will prioritise professional training, local tourism, work to strengthen the financial capacity of the ONTM, make ITM 2014 showcase, a fair in the Indian Ocean area. 

"Among the projects, the ONTM initiates the establishment of a school with hotel of intended application be operational".
