Madagascar : Madagascar's new President officially sworn today

Many guests of honour are expected to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Madagascar's new President, Hery Rajaonarimampianina. Presidents of the Republic of Seychelles, James Alix Michel, Kailash Purryag of Mauritius, Hifkepunye Pohamba of Namibia, Ikililou Dhoinine of Union of Comoros as well as former president Azali Assoumani. Foreign ministers and representatives of different international organisations are expected to attend the ceremony.

Nearly 350 elements of different Madagascar police units have been deployed to ensure security in Tana, in the capital of the country. The areas around Mahamasina stadium at Antanananarivo where the ceremony is expected to take place, has been place under high security. Bottles and metal covers or with glasses will not be permitted inside the stadium. Many plain clothes police officers will infiltrate among the crowd following information about threats to public order, as reported by L'Express de Madagascar.

A cocktail will be served to 4000 guests following the closure of the swearing-in ceremony of Madagascar's new President.
