Madagascar: Legal operators of gemstones create a grouping for the transparency of the sector

Operators of gemstones that operate and sell legally to Madagascar want to protect their business against the illegal trade that impairs the image of the profession in the island.
The grouping of the mine operators for the development of Madagascar (GOMDM) has recently emerged to meet the expectations of professionals in the sector and restore their image by introducing transparency in the sector.
For its president, Juraidah Serveyl Dani, the objective is to protect operators duly registered against the current traffic light by unscrupulous intermediaries.

Mine operators group also pointed finger operators from Asia who practice according to them unfair competition, as reported by the newspaper Le Courrier of Madagascar.
"The question is if they really are operators in the sector of precious stones of one and two, they don't have to make their purchases in quarries", strongly supports the president of the GOMDM, Juraidah Serveyl Dani.
