Madagascar Humanitarian: Free cataract surgeries for villagers living in remote areas

The Madagascar Oil Company and the philanthropic association of the Lions Sight First Madagascar (LSFM), fighting blindness in the island, have decided to join forces to provide eye care and practice of eye surgery for patients living in the villages of Madagascar.

A local construction site at Ankondromena in Menabe region on the western coast of Madagascar has been transformed into the operating theater in the context of a humanitarian operation and more than twenty patients in remote villages (Ankondromena, Ankisatra, Folakara, Soaloka and Betsipolotra) could be made ​​directly on-site of cataract.

Some 60 people were also able to get glasses of correction for a better vision on a daily basis, as indicated by the newspaper Les Nouvelles of the Madagascar.

As a reminder, the Lions Sight First Madagascar is designed to fight blindness and vision improvement, and give proximity assistance to the poorest, and, with the approval of the Madagascar Health Ministry.
