Highway carriers has mobilized with the Malagasy authorities to ensure that the National Highway 4, which connects the capital Tananarive (center of the country) to the city of Mahajanga in the north-west of the Island, undergoes major emergency repair works of the roadway.
Approximately 200 kilometers of road are currently severely degraded and half bridges are damaged.
In October 2014, the road network in Madagascar had deteriorated at many places, with only some 3000 kilometers passable on the 50,000 kilometers of existing road in the Island.
