Malagasy president, Hery Rajaonarimampianina was received at the weekend last in the Elysée Palace by François Holland, president of the French Republic in a warm meeting between the two men.
"Madagascar, today turns towards the future, towards economic recovery, economic development. It has passed a milestone at the political level through transparent, democratic elections. So, today, Madagascar is a construction site at the economic level, Madagascar is a country of opportunity today. So I'm here to educate the French authorities and particularly the community to say, you have a friendly country, you have a country that has a potential which has a desire to develop, which is today determined and undertakes to implement the rule of law, good governance, equitable justice, the fight against corruption", has put forward the Malagasy president.
For his part, François Holland pleaded for the development of Madagascar and where the France would have a role to play after the tumultuous years of the regime of the Transition period in the island.
"We have suffered a lot from this period elapsed between 2009 and 2014 where Madagascar lived a form of permanent challenge and that is why today we are pleased to be able to receive a president who received after clear and transparent elections the anointing of universal suffrage. It was very important that Madagascar found that stability," said the president of the French Republic, François Holland.
"The issue today is the development of Madagascar, and France is willing to participate. I remind that there are 1,000 French companies installed in Madagascar. The president will receive a number of companies that are interested in new investment in Madagascar where there is considerable potential in the agricultural sector, in the field of energy, also tourism. So for all these reasons, it was very important that we are able to find us here" also stressed the tenant of the Elysee.
