Madagascar: Hepatitis B increases for several years in the Big Island

Hepatitis B resulting in inflammation of the liver of the person affected by the virus, knows a worrying resurgence for several years in Madagascar, according to the assertions of the medical profession without these cases of infection are however recorded nationally.

"We do not have a record to elaborate a statistic on people infected with this type of virus. But the number of people tested positive for hepatitis B is experiencing growth every year", announces the gastroenterologist, Rado Manitrala Ramanampamonjy.
Hepatitis B can lead to severe and chronic liver disease which can lead to cirrhosis or even liver cancer in the most severe cases.
The chemotherapy treatments happen very rarely to cure the disease at this stage of development, as indicated by the newspaper L'Express of Madagascar.
