Madagascar: Former President Marc Ravalomanana placed under house arrest after his violent arrest

A few hours after his return from exile of South Africa to Madagascar and his violent arrest by police in balaclavas at his residence at Faravohitra in Tananarive yesterday Monday in early afternoon, the former President Marc Ravalomanana - deposed in 2009 - was placed under house arrest after passing through the military camp at Ratsimandrava Andrefan'Ambohijanahary.
For his part, the President of Madagascar, Hery Rajaonarimampianina, justified in the early evening during a short press briefing at the Palace Iavoloha the action taken by law enforcement since according to him Ravalomanana had not informed the authorities of his return to the Island on the night of Sunday to Monday.
And according to Hery Rajaonarimampianina, Marc Ravalomanana has been moved to a safe place to ensure its own security, as reported by the Orange Madagascar site.
"Marc Ravalomanana arrived in Madagascar that night. He did not consider it necessary to first inform the government as he did not consider it necessary to ask permission ... It is true that a Malagasy citizen can travel normally on the national island territory, but the case of Marc Ravalomanana is particular, it is about his personal security and public safety, "said the president of Madagascar, Hery Rajaonarimampianina.
"Marc Ravalomananana has not been arrested, has not been imprisoned but has been moved to safety away from various threats against him. Security forces have decided to take their responsibility," Hery Rajaonarimampianina also said that he did not appreciate the first "provocative" statements of former Malagasy president upon his return to Tananarive.
"When I left, I was in power, I was removed from it. Now I'm here, it's the people to decide," and had said yesterday morning Marc Ravalomanana during a press conference at his residence of Faravohitra.
