Madagascar: First open heart operations scheduled twice per day at the Hospital of Soavinandriana in Tananarive

The first daily operations of open heart in the wake of coronary artery or heart valve replacement should be created, by the second quarter 2014, at the rate of two interventions per day.
These interventions of cardiac surgery will be performed by two Malagasy specialists of the Center Hospital of Soavinandriana in Tananarive and this, within a new block under equipment.
"We expect the finish of the block for this heart operation to install the appropriate equipment. If the timing is adequate, the Soavinandriana hospital could operate two patients per day by the second quarter of this year outside of the two annual missions cardiac surgery conducted by Médecins du Monde, "said Pascal Rajaonarison, director of the Soavinandriana hospital in Tananarive.
Jose Rasolondrazao, one of the two surgeons, is particularly ready to perform heart interventions in opened heart and scheduled daily, as reported by the newspaper L'Express of Madagascar.
"Since 1997, the Hospital of Soavinandriana has made 219 operations at heart closed with Médecins du Monde. We also did, once, open heart surgery. The girl is doing well currently. Also, the arrival of this new block, thanks to our partners as the consul of Monaco or Médecins du Monde can only strengthen our skills", said surgeon José Rasolondrazao.
