Madagascar: Andry Rajoelina formally renounces the presidential
Andry Rajoelina has decided to throw in the towel in the race for the presidential elections scheduled for May next in Madagascar. The President of the Transition had, in recent months, left doubt about a possible candidacy, criticizing the interference of the international community in the political affairs of the Big Island.

"I am not participating for the election. I sacrificed myself to 20 millions of Malagasy... That is how I express my patriotism", said Andry Rajoelina last night in a televised speech. "It is my duty to organize elections in the serenity... I will direct the Transition until the end and I am ready to make a transfer of power democratically, I wish a lot of things to the one who will replace me", said the President of the Transition.
Last December, the former president, Marc Ravalomanana, has also renounced to run for the Chair of presidency in his country.

The South Africa Development Community of (SADC) advocated this solution of the official withdrawal of Andry Rajoelina and Marc Ravalomanana in the Madagascar presidential race a few weeks ago.
