Madagascar: About half of households deprived of electricity in the island

According to a recent survey conducted in December 2014 by the National Statistics Institute in the Island and passing over the riddle the state of the electricity network in Madagascar, 50.3% of households are supplied with electricity in their homes.
82.4% of people who have no access to electricity on the Malagasy territory of reside on their part in rural areas. Over 44% of households surveyed also reported experiencing power cuts over the last seven days that precede the survey.
It also shows that remote areas are the main cause of the non-serving of electricity in Malagasy homes by the technical departments of Jirama.
As a reminder, Madagascar is subject to an average of 624 hours of load shedding of electricity per year, or 26 days in total. Power cuts occur on average for 8 hours, and about 78 times each year in the wake of the financial difficulties of Jirama responsible for serving the public network.
