Madagascar: A hydroelectric power station built in 2016 on the river Ikopa

The company Hydelec Madagascar belonging to the Italian group Tozzi has recently began the works of a hydroelectric plant connected to the capital Tananarive and should increase the capacity of the electricity generation on a consistent basis.
The construction - expected to be completed within one and a half year - will thus be able respond in particular to the growing demand of the inhabitants of Tananarive in 2016.
The installation of the foundation stone took place last Thursday in the presence of local authorities and the Malagasy president Hery Rajaonarimampianina.
Located in Mahitsy on the side of Farahantsana on Ikopa River, this power station with a capacity of 18 megawatts of daily production is expected to fuel the interconnected system of up to 90 million kWh / year, as reported in the Gazette of the Island.
