Madagascar: 70 bags totaling 2.5 tons of cannabis seized in a military truck

Seventy bags containing cannabis which were in the back of a truck of armed Malagasy forces and hidden under bags of coal, were seized by officers of the anti-drug brigade at Iavoloha at 15 km of Tananarive on National Highway 7.
The police have operated this catch, after receiving precise information on a large quantity of cannabis to be delivered to drug traffickers based in
Tananarive via "a green army truck" already heading towards the Malagasy capital.

The total weight of the drugs is estimated at 2.5 tons and according to preliminary investigation, the seized cannabis come from the Fort Dauphin in the south of Madagascar and was supplying drugs to the city of Tananarive.
The two soldiers who guarded the illegal goods were arrested and referred to the public prosecutor's office of Anosy which has decided of their remand to Antanimora prison.
Two other people suspected of being at the head of this drug trafficking have experienced the same correctional fate.
The 70 bags of cannabis should be burned, this weekend, for the services of the drug squad, as indicated by the newspaper L'Express of Madagascar.
