Madagascar: 64% Malagasy people dissatisfied with their elected municipal

While the municipal elections will be held in the Great Island on 31 July, the Malagasy are dissatisfied with their local councilors, as revealed by the latest survey by Afrobarometer .
Their main dissatisfaction focuses on maintenance of roads and markets in Madagascar. However, Malagasy citizens paradoxically remain confident in the role devolved to elected local especially in rural areas of the country.
More than half of those surveyed also stated that elected officials are not listening to their everyday problems of the population and are often corrupted.
2 out of 3 people also believe that voters may sanction the action of elected officials and are a democratic bulwark against the excesses.
