Madagascar: 2,000 new cases of obstetric fistula identified in the Great Island

The latest figures from UNPF (United Nations Population Fund), 50,000 Malagasy women with obstetric fistula, with 2,000 new cases each year are listed in the Great Island.
Obstetric fistula is an abnormal formation between the bladder and the vagina (vesicovaginal fistula) or between the bladder and the rectum (rectal fistula vesicovaginal) that occurs in the wake of a complicated pregnancy.
The gut content may include moving through the fistula to get into the vagina.
