Madagascar: 18,000 tons of litchi exported from the Island brought 19.5 million euros as revenues

The harvesting season of litchi in Madagascar started from 17 November on the Island was completed on 14 December.
18,000 tons of litchis were thus exported to foreign markets for about 19.5 million euros in revenue. France and Germany were particularly close to 90% of exports of Malagasy lichis.

As a reminder, the litchi industry also introduced since 2012 in its orchards in the Tamatave region in the east of the Island, a new species of juicy fruit with red hull.

A maximum diameter of 53 mm with a small nucleus, Malagasy litchi sports a better taste more sweet flesh to savor.
