Comoros: Said Larifou wins the case that the end of the term of office of members, governors and the President is respected

Said Larifou, leader of the party Ridja, filed last July an application concerning the effective date of termination of mandate of Deputies, governors as well as the Presidency of the Comoros with the Constitutional Court of the Comoros to counter what he termed "denial of democracy" in the event of arbitrary extension.
The Constitutional Court of the archipelago held admissible the application and ruled in its judgment accordingly that the mandate of Deputies and advisers of the Islands will be completed by April 2014, those of the Governors of the Islands and the president of the Union of the Comoros will mature on May 23, 2016 at midnight.

The Court however declared incompetent to the application for an injunction to the Executive to set the date of the elections.

But that judgment calls on the Government authorities to respect the electoral calendar and to organize the elections at the end of the fifth regular session of April 2014, as indicated by the site.

"I am really satisfied with the decision of the High Court. This decision will make the putschists think that the Comoros have turned the page and that it is filmed in a democratic transition... My party has once again contributed to the emergence of stability despite the insults", said the leader of the party Raidja, Said Larifou, who wants to work "for the Comoros and not for a plan or a man".
