Comoros: Eight injured during a violent disturbance following the launch of Dead Island operation

While since Monday in the Comoros a dead island operation has been launched to protest against the excessive number of power cuts and water shortages in the archipelago, the situation quickly degenerated yesterday Tuesday with violent clashes between forces of the and demonstrators.
The army had to intervene and even used live bullets at Mitsoudjé, which is located about 15 km from Moroni, capital of Comoros. Eight injured were identified, two of them in critical condition.
The car of the Attorney General, Maoulida Djouberi, from Mitsoudjé, has been burned by protesters. A dozen young people were arrested and the route in the south of the island of Grande Comore towards Moroni was cut.

As a reminder, the Comorian Ministry of Interior warned on Sunday evening that "against the disturbance of public order, the free movement of people and property would be ensured."
