Comoros: Drowning of four teenage girls in an artificial pond

Four adolescent girls died by drowning near the town of Ivembeni located in the North of Grande Comore, this Friday, when they were swimming in an artificial pond with three others.
The tragedy took place very quickly when a young girl on the bank fell into the water at 10 meters depth and had difficulty to rise to the surface. Four teenage girls had therefore died while trying to save her, as related the site.
The mother of one of the victim wants the pond, which has already made victims in the past, to be now closed and forbade to youngsters. "We no longer want to experience it again", she said in tears.
