China gives 100,000 dollars to Indian Ocean Commission

The Chinese authorities have decided to strengthen their cooperation implementation from 2010 with the Commission of the Indian Ocean (COI) and brought in earlier this week their financial support for the regional organisation to the tune of 100,000 dollars.
The agreement was signed on Tuesday at the headquarters of the regional organisation to ebony between Jean-Claude de L'Estrac, Secretary general of the IOC and Li Li, the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China in the island of Mauritius, as reported by the newspaper Le Mauricien.
"This significant donation demonstrates the deepening of China-COI co-operation. This support reflects the growing role of China on international and regional development assistance and cooperation", said Jean-Claude de L'Estrac.
As a reminder, the Commission of the Indian Ocean (Reunion, Madagascar, Mauritius, the Comoros and the Seychelles) defines and develops projects of regional economic cooperation.
