Tourism Mauritius and First News work together, with First News helping to promote Mauritius as a destination to our audience of young people, parents and teachers around the UK and with the new international edition through sponsorship and advertorial activity. This is along with the editorial opportunities that are currently in discussion with First News Editor, Nicky Cox.
“We will educate young people and inform parents and teachers about Mauritius’ unique experiences such as the wildlife, geography, history of the island and things to see and do when they visit, through a series of engaging advertorials and features across our print, digital and online channels. This will encourage our readers to think of Mauritius when it comes to planning their next holiday”, said Nicky Cox.

Some recent school testimonials
The children love reading about things that matter to them and effect them. The activities have proven to be popular and a useful way to give the children a purpose for their reading.
The children love the opportunity to read a real newspaper, and it appeals to both boys and girls. It is a great resource for our journalistic writing unit of work.
It gets children reading and gives good balanced articles informing children about their world and encouraging them to form their own views and opinions.
First News provides an accessible, age appropriate, relevant look at the news for our young people. I appreciate the recognisable and friendly format and the regular features involving other school pupils. I find it useful in our newspaper club which aims to engage the pupils in current affairs and I very much appreciate the online resources which help me structure our look at the news. I look forward to utilising the weekly debate aspect more in the coming year.
