Tourist arrivals increased by 13.9% in Mauritius




Mauritius has seen landing on its soil about 11,000 more tourists in August, an increase of 13.9% in a year with 89,422 tourists counted against 78,475 in August 2014.

Chinese travelers have thus increased by 63.6% (10,411) and the Indian visitors of 6.7% (3897). For the European countries, tourists from the United Kingdom increased by 19.8%, the French visitors (metropolitan) 5.8% (15,496) and German tourists climbed by 24.6%.

In the Indian Ocean region, travelers arriving from South Africa display an increase of 7.6% (8.430). In contrast, the market draining travelers from the island of Reunion, a member of vanilla isalnds (10,953) was slightly down by 1.6%.
From January to August, tourist arrivals in Mauritius stood at 719 173 visitors, travelers against 651,107 over the same calendar period of last year, an increase of 10.5%.
