The trade balance between Mauritius and Reunion favorable to Mauritian exports




As announced, the customs duties on Reunionese exports returning on the Mauritian soil have been abolished on 1 July. According to the official decree, imported products must nevertheless have an added value and correspond to the European standards.
 
The Mauritian imports of products coming from Reunion in 2014 amounted to approximately 2.5 million euro. The production of animal feed is particularly 300,000 euros. The list of products imported from Reunion Island also includes fish, fruit, rum, juice, flour, yogurt, mineral water as well as beauty products.
 
Mauritius exports on its side towards Reunion beauty products, chemical fertilizers, glass and plastics products, aluminum, detergents, mineral water and cigarettes. The Mauritian exports towards its neighbor has helped to gain more than 51 million euros last year.
