The number of tourists in Madagascar is far from the forecast expected

While the Malagasy tourism authorities wanted a couple months ago to exceed the 300,000 tourists in 2015 and also reach the bar of one million visitors in the Island by 2020, the numbers of tourist arrivals are far from the forecast expected...

Less than 100,000 tourists have been reported from January to August.

The strike of Air Madagascar, insecurity and cases of plague in the east of Madagascar have clearly struck a damaging blow to the Malagasy tourism sector as a whole.

In 2014, some 220,000 tourists visited Madagascar, far from the 400,000 travelers registered in 2009. As a reminder, 255,942 tourists were welcomed in Madagascar in 2012, nearly 29% went to the island of Nosy Be, and some 198 816 visitors have traveled to the Island in 2013.
