The consumer price index increased in August

The consumer price index climbed by 1.1% last August against 0.6% in July 2015 and 0.4% in June, as reported by the official body Statistics Mauritius.

The combined increased prices of vegetables, food and cost of airline tickets has led to this increase in inflation year on year.

The depreciation of the rupee against the dollar (-11.3% in 2015) and a weak euro that impact imported products have also been important factors in the mark of the index in Mauritius.
