The Mauritian national electricity company considering the creation of a gas power plant with EDF expertise




Officials of the Mauritian national electricity company (CEB) are currently working on the possible construction of a gas power plant, less polluting than coal on the side of Fort William at Salinas in the South West of Mauritius.

EDF engineers have thus been mandated to contribute their expertise on the subject. A more detailed feasibility study should be conducted near future while the CEB puts forward that this option more profitable with low prices bagasse now.
 
The transformation of biomass into the combustible gas is going to generate significant savings while the cost of imports for the heavy oil and coal has jumped from 2002 to 2012 from 6.3 billion rupees * to 33.4 billion rupees.
