The Comoros and the European Union work together to the holding of "free and democratic" elections in November next for legislative and municipal

In the context of the legislative and municipal elections being held in November 2014 in the archipelago and after the creation of a biometric electoral file, the Ministry of the Interior of the Comoros and the representatives of the European Union have begun to work together so the next scheduled elections are "free, democratic, transparent and clear", as reported by the newspaper La Gazette des Comores relates.

Hayley Ibrahim, the Minister of the Interior, wants to collaborate on the development of a joint program that the elections take place "in the best conditions" in the heart of a democratic process clearly displayed.

The European Union has thus sent two experts to prepare a comprehensive State of the Comoros at the electoral level and which will advocate all deemed necessary actions for sincere holding various elections in the archipelago, so that the results from the polls are vitiated by any irregularities.

The European Union has already asked, before continuing its work of support, the Comorian authorities to revise the electoral legal framework, to establish an election administration, to have reliable and complete lists of electors as well as "budgeting available resources" for elections.
