Survey on drug trafficking island established




The Ministry Council of Mauritius has recently recorded officially the creation of a commission of inquiry related to drug cases in the country and the role played by the local mafia that holds the strings in this market for years.

This commission will be chaired by former judge Paul Lam Shang Leen who will be assisted in his mission by the former Minister of Social Security, Sam Lauthan and Acting Director in the Ministry of Health, Ravind Kumar Domun .

It is to be remembered that in 2012 a report by the International Narcotics Control Board,United Nations , put the index Mauritius, as leading consumer of hard drugs in Africa.

The last commission of investigation into drug trafficking in Mauritius had been implemented in 1985-1986.
