France and the Union of the Comoros have paragraphed, last Tuesday, an agreement on a convention on mutual assistance between the two countries.
 
Minister of Justice Abdou Ousseine, and the Ambassador of France in Moroni, Philippe Lacoste, were signatories to the convention that will facilitate relations between the investigators and the judiciary of the two countries.
 
The latter which has taken two years to emerge concerning inter alia at the criminal level, judgement notifications, summonses, the hearings of now possible witnesses by video conferencing system, wiretapping and requests for bank account information.
 
The convention on mutual assistance between the France and the Union of the Comoros is not however about arrests, extradition, or the execution of sentences, according to the newspaper La Gazette des Comores.
 
"France does not sign such instrument with any country. But with the presence of a strong Comorian diaspora in France, this type of instrument was needed ... It is not an agreement to discount. This is the kind of agreement that can be signed with the United States ", said the Ambassador of France in Moroni, Philippe Lacoste.
