Shipwreck at Saint Brandon, 9 navigators rescued by coastguards

The nine crew members of Vestas Wind, including several Danish sailors on board, who took part in the Volvo Ocean Race on Saturday were swept on the reefs off Cargados Carajos Shoals at Saint. Brandon, in the north of Mauritius, during the second stage between Cape Town and Abu Dhabi.

The nine teammates thus remained trapped inside their monohull for nearly four hours, and this, before the Coast Guard of the island of Saint. Brandon were alerted by satellite to come to their rescue.

The crew of Vestas Wind has thus been found safe and sound and brought back to land.

For its part, the boat Team Vestas Wind, whose value is estimated at 4.5 million, was severely damaged during impact.

The crew of Team Vestas Wind had sailed on the side of Spain on November 19 and was expected to reach Sweden by June 15, 2015.
