Seychelles: A new fishing dock for transshipment financed by the European Union

A new fishing transshipment is now operational since the beginning of the week on the island of the Port in the East coast of Mahé in Seychelles.
 
The new structure of dock for transhipment operations can receive ships of maximum tonnage of 4,200 tons and capable of measuring between 80 and 100 meters in length.
 
The Seychellois president James Michel, recently officially inaugurated the new dock alongside his Cape Verde counterpart, Jorge Carlos de Almeida Fonseca, on a State visit in the archipelago.
 
This new 120 meter long wharf and funded by the European Union through the Indian Ocean Commission (IOC) was built to develop tuna fishing in the area and locally stimulate the entire processing chain, as reported by Seychelles News Agency.
