Reintegration of Madagascar to the AGOA announced by Barack Obama

The reintegration of AGOA Madagascar * (exemption from customs duties) is officially recorded since last Friday, after the island has been excluded in 2009 in the wake of the overthrow of the former president Marc Ravalomanana.
The announcement was made by U.S. President Barack Obama and coincided with the celebration of the 54th Anniversary of the independence of Madagascar celebrated on June 26, 2014.
Barack Obama has thus welcomed the actions taken by the Government of Madagascar which now meets the eligibility criteria as described in section 104 of the AGOA.
As a reminder, 30 countries of sub-Saharan Africa benefit from AGOA for their export of textile products to the United States.
The Malagasy president, Hery Rajaonarimampianina, had travelled to the United States in March last to argue for the reinstatement of his country within AGOA.
