The Italian police have intercepted on Wednesday night in the territorial waters in the north of Pantelleria Island off the coast of Sicily a ship flying the flag of the Comoros, with a cargo of 20 tons of hashish.

The market value of the drugs seized is estimated at 15 million euro.

The six-man crews were arrested for being auditioned.

According to preliminary results of the investigation that starts, the drug shipment was loaded off the coast of Morocco and took the direction of Libya.

The operation was launched following a piece of information from the Italian Central Directorate for Anti-Drug Services (DCSA), which had issued an alert on the presence of a ship carrying a large shipment of drugs in the Mediterranean.
